Taxman Means Business !
Proving sales of puppies are not just for Christmas!
HMRC continue to enforce their view that the breeding and selling of puppies (and kittens) is a business.
But they definitely want their cake and eat it, by denying breeders any costs relating to the showing of their prize animals.
Showing dogs is often the precursor to breeding, done in order to produce and retain a prize puppy to continue the line or improve the standard, meaning they go hand in hand and costs can be difficult to split!
However the Revenue deem ‘showing’ to be a hobby whilst breeding is deemed a trade! A self employed business!
