Lindsay’s last quarter of Tax Travel
The last three months have seen me covering the length and breadth of the country in resolving Tax Investigation cases for clients!
From Lap Dancers falling foul of HMRC in Manchester to Escort Agency workers In York being ‘picked up’ for enquiry the tax net is expanding into what they refer to as the Hidden Economy!
Surrey saw me defending an ice cream seller left out in the cold by HMRC The Revenue were digging into the affairs of a garden machinery firm in Leeds And a day nursery in the South saw me defend the case as easily as childs-play!
Meetings with HMRC are scattered all over the UK now regardless of where the client is based with their postal offices being located in Bootle or Newcastle and inspectors in Glasgow dealing with cases in London!
The specialist Personal Liability Notice (PLN) team is based in London dealing with cases are far away as Sheffield all ensuring my mileage and train travel costs continues to go through the roof!
Motors dealers continue to be on HMRC’s hit list setting the Wheels in Motion for full tax enquiries into their car sales and matching them to the purchases across from Liverpool to Grimsby
Offshore bank account enquiries still raise their heads so don’t bank on yours escaping HMRC view over the next year -whether in Guernsey, Jersey or the Isle of Man – there are still accounts to be unearthed despite many previous HMRC amnesties.
Finally footballers continue to take the penalties as HMRC expose amateur clubs and cricket clubs too for wages, expenses and benefits in kind!
After the summer break I shall be on my travels again from East to West, North to South leaving no stone unturned in my defense of these clients and I love it!
